It was very exciting when an enquiry came in from Sarah Walker at BBC Radio Berkshire, asking if I’d like to go on her show and talk about Daisy.
Every Tuesday afternoon BBC Radio Berkshire invite a Berkshire Person with an unusual business, talent or past time to go on Sarah’s show and talk about their journey.
Years ago I did a stint as a restaurant reviewer for LBC Radio. I had to try the food and review it in front of the chef in the radio studio live on air. The food was always luke warm and well travelled and the chefs were various levels of intimidating. My only other radio experience was as a co- presenter again for LBC during HRH Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex’ Wedding, it was a comedy look at the events of the day as they unfolded and certainly guaranteed that I would never be awarded any kind of decoration from the Queen in my old age! My experience was completely irrelevant but at least I had a rough idea of what to expect and, hopefully, how to get my story across on the radio.
My mantra for the day was; don’t swear, posh telephone voice and try not to embarrass your mother!

I even had a lady come up to me at a wedding fayre to say she had enjoyed hearing me on the radio, and at least this time there was no angry chefs or monarchy.
