It’s amazing to think I’m going into Daisy’s 3rd year of weddings and events. 2013 was amazing, weddings, events, festivals, fairs, parties, you name it Daisy delighted hundreds of guests and visitors. A fierce heatwave in July turned her into a greenhouse on wheels with the temperature inside reaching 146 degrees at one point and my face melting!
I owe a massive thank you to everyone at Toulmin Motors, particularly Pete who came to my rescue at the beginning of 2013. I was let down very badly by someone who had been doing some of the work on Daisy and who had agreed to undertake the next bit of restoration through last winter.
Pete agreed at very short notice to attempt 3 months work in a matter of weeks, which included trying to make sense and fix some very badly installed electrical work. The extent of the mess that had been left by poor workmanship was alarming and Pete set about stripping out and reinstalling power systems, auto electrics, lights, generators, batteries and enough wiring to run an office block!
The pressure of time had everyone at Toulmin working round the clock to get Daisy back in working order in time for the bookings I had. There was no time to test things or cope with teething issues, and oh boy there were some! But Pete was continually there for me throughout the year as issues came up.
Toulmin Motors specialise in modernising and restoring classic vehicles, so if you want to drive around in a beautiful vintage vehicle but would like to spend more time driving it and less time waiting at the side of the road for a trailer Pete will find the modern running gear that will give a classic the reliability and safety of a modern vehicle. They deserve a blog post to themselves and it will be here in January.
